Ethical policy

Ethical Code of the journal  «Current issues of Ukrainian linguistics : theory and practice»: 

1. The Journal adheres to all ethical norms and rules as well as those that are regulated by current legislation of Ukraine.

2. Editorial policy of the journal is based on the principles of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and Code of Ethics of the university community of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purposes, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author.

3. Publishing in a peer-reviewed journal is, in terms of method and ethics, an important part of the research work. Abuses by Editorial Board, reviewers and authors thus jeopardize the advancement of science. Therefore, it is very important to adhere to the ethical standards of academic publications.

4. All publications are licensed under the  Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.

5. Authors:

  • are fully responsible for academic articles submitted to the Editorial Board which  must be duly executed, contain relevance and novelty of the research;
  • confirm that the article submitted for consideration has not been promulgated before (partially or completely);
  • are responsible for correctness of sources and citations;
  • must report  any potential conflict of interests such as corporate, consulting or financial interests of a company etc. on which the publication of results contained in a manuscript  could influence (see list at);
  • must guarantee absence of contract relations or ownership rights, which could influence the
    publication of information presented in a manuscript;
  • are the rights-holders of the published material. Research funding or general supervision of the work of the group is not the authorship.

6. The Editorial Board:

  • encourages and supports scientific integrity, adheres to editorial independence, accords priority to discussion and dispute;
  • gives preference to intellectual standards and levels of materials, not financial or political benefits as well as commercial considerations (see FINANCING);
  • gives no information related to maintenance of manuscript on consideration to other persons except persons which participate in professional estimation of a scientific paper. After positive decision of the Editorial Board the article is published in the journal and placed on its webpage in the original language and necessarily in English after which the paper is submitted to the corresponding electronic resources of Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine and placed on the websites of  international scientifically-metrical bases;
  • adhere to the ethical aspects of the work of editors and members of the Editorial Board in accordance with the Code of editorial ethics and best practices of  Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

7. Reviewers:

  • evaluate the manuscript regardless of ethnic, gender, religious or political affiliation of the authors (see list at);
  • must ensure confidentiality of all the materials related to a publication;
  • assess significance of the provided materials for linguistics and social communications. All assessments are documented (see REVIEWS);
  • must take into account a possibility of conflict of interests in the case when a manuscript is closely related to their current or published work. If there are any doubts, a reviewer must turn the manuscript without a review, reporting the Editorial Board about the conflict of interests.

8. For violation of the ethical requirements of the Editorial Board, the paper is not accepted for publication. The Editorial Board keeps reviews for three years.

9. Privacy Policy:

  • the Editorial Board provides complete anonymity in the system of relations «Author – Reviewer (s)». Reviewers can not use the research findings presented in the submitted articles;
  • the names and e-mail addresses provided by the users of the website of this Edition will be used solely for internal and technical tasks; they will not be distributed and transferred to third parties.

10. The algorithm for eliminating ethical violations complies with the COPE, in particular:

  • fabricate or forged data;
  • conflict of interest of the author / co-author;
  • ethical aspects in the publication;
  • problems of authorship and correctness of data retrieval;
  • suspicion of false quotation or use of the scientist's name for personal gain, etc.

11. Articles of the Editorial board members are subject to the standard external independent review procedure organized by the editor-in-chief. Members of the editorial board do not participate in the consideration of their own manuscripts.

12. The main reasons for denial of publication:

  • violation of the ethical policy of the Journal;
  • inconsistency with the branch profile of the Journal;
  • plagiarism and / or self-plagiarism (see Anti-Plagiarism System);
  • low scientific quality of the article (there are no references for authoritative world research works, articles in abstract bases, above all Scopus and Web of Science);
  • there are no topicality and novelty of the research;
  • the proof base of scientific results is not sufficient, the conclusions are incomplete or incorrect;
  • the linguostylistic and technical completion of an article is incorrect.
