Abstract

The article touches upon the problem that the introduction to the modern interpretation of linguistic imageology can be a conceptual understanding of the sequences of its practical manifestation and the formation of the theory. It is determined that the image at the initial stage is a special nature of figurative thinking and language representation, which over time is formalized in symbolized language units, transforming Chaos into Cosmos. At the next stage, symbolized figurative units / patterns build the logic of dependencies, expanding the communicative capacity of a conceptually stable figurative unit and through "bifurcation points" enter the image communicative field.
It is proved that different meanings of "image" lose full synonymous correspondence. These are rather metonymic dependencies, where the figurative verbal form reveals the implementation of a special type of human thinking (most clearly in the artistic style and its pre-texts / original texts – fairy tales, myths, phraseology).
It is argued that image is a manifestation of communicative completeness, built on the possibilities of transformation of figurative speech (and not only). Image characteristics unite space of constancy, uniting common cultural and social experience, the possibility of linguistic innovations, based on the learned, stable, but harmonized with real time and its challenges.
Modern linguistic imageology is interpreted as a sphere of formation and dissemination of narratives that integrate into the coherence (depending on the goal and communicative tasks) of society / societies on the basis of values, ideologies, traditions. Forms and methods of imaging and anti-imaging are strategically and tactically revealed in the communicative potential of the Ukrainian language.
